Manure/Slurry Spreaders and Equipment

It is imperative to avoid loss of nitrogen during ammonia emission and while spreading of slurry. Emission can be diminished by either injecting the slurry directly into the soil or by using drag hoses during the spreading followed up by rapid ploughing or incorporation into the soil. This procedure can result in a higher utilisation of the nitrogen as well as a reduction of the ammonia emission and odour, compared with the traditional broad spreaders, which are no longer allowed in many EU countries.

In order to avoid over-fertilisation and since the demand of nutrients varies within the same field, it has been proven advantageous to use GPS systems in connection with the application of manure. As a result the output is optimised and at the same time the amount of manure is adjusted precisely to the specific plants’ needs as well as to the soil conditions of the different areas of the field.
